About
Sandra Bottinelli is a visual artist, curator, and gallery owner who has been part of Asheville’s vibrant creative community since 2011.
Upon moving to the city, she was immediately inspired by the River Arts District — a neighborhood alive with working studios and creative energy. It wasn’t long before she secured her first studio space at the iconic Wedge Studios, where she founded and ran WhiteSPACE, a working studio and gallery, for ten successful years.
Eager to be more accessible to visitors, Sandra eventually moved into a ground-level space at Riverview Station and opened Modern Muse Gallery — a large, light-filled gallery and workspace that became home to six working artists. It was a dynamic, inspiring environment where customers could engage with artists and experience the creative process firsthand.
In September 2024, Hurricane Helene brought catastrophic flooding to the area, submerging Riverview Station under 21 feet of water and destroying Modern Muse. While the loss was devastating, Sandra’s spirit endured. With the support of community grants and her unwavering dedication to the arts, she began building again — this time in the very heart of the newly reimagined River Arts District.
Now located in the Wyre retail spaces on Roberts Street, Bottinelli Fine Art is Sandra’s newest venture. The 1,700-square-foot gallery houses five working Resident Artists and showcases work by four Satellite Artists, featuring both 2D and 3D mediums. True to Sandra’s vision, Bottinelli Fine Art is not just a gallery but a living workspace where artists create, connect, and converse with visitors.
Sandra lives above the gallery in the apartments at the Wyre, fulfilling her long-held dream of living and working in the same creative space. With the River Arts District quite literally in her backyard, she continues to cultivate a space where art, community, and inspiration thrive.
